Pharmacy Technician Program

Pharmacy Technician 

Abram Friedman Occupational Center is proud to offer the Pharmacy Technician Program, which enables students become licensed by the California Board of Pharmacy and obtain jobs in retail pharmacies.

In 6 short months (1 semester) you can become a Registered Pharmacy Technician.

The Pharmacy Technician program is designed to prepare students for employment in a pharmacy setting.

Pharmacy Clerk 

Prepare for employment in community, clinic and hospital pharmacies; emphasis on customer service, working in a pharmaceutical setting, health and safety guidelines, ethical and legal responsibilities, medical terminology, insurance billing, and drug distribution systems. Offered first 8 weeks of each term.

What We Do

Instruction is provided in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacy settings, duties and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician, pharmaceutical terminology, abbreviations and symbols, metric and apothecary systems, drug requirements, record keeping, dispensing prescriptions, knowledge of manufacturing, packaging and labeling of drug products.

Pharmacy Tech Externship:

Students participate in pharmacy externship in local pharmacies under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
